Nile
Artist: Jonathan Aumen
Medium: drift wood, copper, magnolia stem, spalted maple
4 L x 2 W x 8.25 H in
“ The ancient Egyptians called the Nile river ‘Ar’ meaning ‘black’. It flooded its banks every year in late summer and deposited dark, rich sediment which made the surrounding land exceptionally fertile. This made it possible for abundance to spring out of a desert region. I see this sculpture as being a symbol of that fertility.”
